One thing is for certain — people in the 209 will not let the summer heat stop them from having some summer fun. And it’s been great to see all those smiling faces. We can’t wait to see you at more events in the 209.

Gourd and Fine Art Festival

The Amador Gourd Artists organization hosted the annual Gourd and Fine Art Festival at the Amador Flower Farm in June. The annual event brought in gourd artists from all over the 209, as well as the Sacramento region and the Bay Area. Visitors were able to explore their works, vote for a fan favorite and enjoy the food and drink vendors on the grounds. For more information visit amadorgourdartists.com.

Modesto Nuts Nurses vs. Teachers

Nurses and teachers, perhaps some of the hardest-working professionals over the last year, got a chance to blow off some steam and have some fun competition in a softball game organized by the Modesto Nuts Professional Baseball Club. Bragging rights went to the nurses.

Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee

All things lumber and this history it has had in shaping Tuolumne County were celebrated at the Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee event in June. The two-day festival organized by VFW Post 4748 featured logging events, a tug-o-war contest, arm wrestling competitions, live music and a parade. For more information about the event, visit the organizers at vfwpost4748.org.

Stanislaus County Fair

The Stanislaus County Fair welcomed back visitors with fair food, livestock shows and arena action. The event may have been pared down this year, but visitors were enjoying the pop-up shops and the food vendors. The fair does plan on returning in full force for 2022.
